TY 2K10.

TY 2K10.

So, Transition Year is over. The certs have been given out, the awards have been collected, and more than a few of the year are nursing hangovers this morning. I’m not sure how to feel right now – TY was probably the most “swings and roundabouts” year I’ve had to date. When it was good, it was absolutely fantastic, but other times I did wonder why on earth I wasn’t in a fifth year Biology class. On the whole, TY was great. I made friends with people whose names I didn’t know last year, and I generally feel like I’m better off for doing it. Yeah, I’ll regret saying that come September but for the moment I’m happy. If I was off doing homework for the past year, it’s highly unlikely I’d have made the friends I made, got a chance to play a decrepit old busybody for a few hundred people and make some of the best friends in the world. Oh, and I wouldn’t have got so good at quoting Anchorman either.
Do you remember the first few weeks of TY? Everyone stayed with their 3rd year friends and spent classes longing to move tutor. I’m so happy that changed for everyone.
Granted, TY wasn’t a big lovein. We aren’t one big family – more a village with a couple of (larger) settlements. But I have made a good few new friends – people like Peter, Sean, Franki, Keogh and Emily have been major factors in my year being awesome. Likewise, I got closer to a lot of people – Ross & co, I’m looking at you – and I honestly don’t know what I did without you guys.
On the flipside, I’m so happy to be free of mini-company, projects and school in general. No, I don’t feel like I deserve the summer – I doubt any TY’s except good ol’ Planet Saverz do. However, I plan to have the best summer in the world with some of the best people in the world – who I wouldn’t know without having a) epic amounts of free time and b) a new tutor group.
Stay classy, guys. Don’t cry because it’s over etc.
